The turbine housing is the starting point for fitment. Record its external dimensions and shape, then identify the inlet and outlet connections, wastegate arrangement and available installation space. For a vehicle-specific application, include the turbocharger part number as well as the vehicle model, model year and engine.
BSTFLEX offers patterns including T25/T28, T3, T3/T4, T4 and T6. These designations help identify a product family; they should not replace a dimensional check. An internally wastegated housing also needs appropriate clearance around the actuator and moving linkage.
For a custom turbo blanket, mark the areas to be insulated and the areas that must remain accessible. Drawings and installed photographs can make these requirements clearer than a turbo model name alone.
The BSTFLEX titanium turbo blanket uses a basalt/lava-fiber textile exterior. Titanium is the product-range name here, not a statement that the cover is made from metallic titanium.
Specify this option when your product brief calls for the lava-fiber finish. The internal insulation, edge materials and fastening can be discussed separately rather than treating the exterior as a complete construction specification.
Our carbon fiber turbo heat shield blanket provides a carbon fabric outer cover with a black woven appearance.
For purchasing, distinguish carbon fabric from a black silicone-coated cover. They are separate material options even when both are sold as black turbo blankets. Include the required fabric finish and any surface-treatment requirements in the order specification.
The aluminized turbo blanket is the option for a metallic-faced fabric exterior.
Confirm the backing fabric and facing construction when comparing quotations. An aluminized fabric cover is not the same component as a separate embossed metal foil layer; a requirement for one should not be assumed to specify the other.
Our silicone-coated fiberglass turbo blanket offers a coated fabric exterior with color options available on request.
For a branded product range, agree the color reference together with the material specification. The coating, underlying fabric and internal insulation need to be selected for the intended operating conditions, not by appearance alone.
BSTFLEX can add embossed metal foil to a custom turbo heat shield blanket according to the customer's requirements. This is an optional construction feature, not a standard layer included in every blanket.
For a defined design, provide the metal grade, nominal thickness, embossing pattern and required coverage area. A marked drawing should identify the intended layer position and any restrictions around seams, edges or attachment points. When these details have not yet been determined, send the design objective and a reference sample for review.
The foil arrangement should be agreed with the complete blanket construction. Do not assume that adding a metal layer automatically establishes a higher temperature rating or a particular surface-temperature reduction.
A useful RFQ separates the turbine-housing temperature from the desired blanket outer-surface temperature. State continuous and peak conditions, where each temperature is measured, and the expected operating duration. Also identify any nearby component whose temperature limit matters to the project.
The outer fabric is one part of the assembly. The hot-face lining, insulation core, seams, edge binding and fastening must be considered together. Ask for the proposed construction rather than comparing turbo blanket suppliers on an exterior material name alone.
Define acceptance criteria before sample evaluation. For example, identify the measurement location, engine operating condition and required clearance, rather than requesting an unspecified percentage of heat reduction.
Start with an agreed design brief. Provide the housing information, thermal requirements, preferred outer cover and any metal foil details. For an existing design, identify which features must be retained and which may be changed.
Evaluate the sample in the intended installation. Check coverage, closure position, access to connections and clearance around moving components. Where thermal performance is part of the purchase specification, agree the validation conditions and responsibilities before approval.
Release a defined specification for production. Record the accepted materials, key dimensions, fastening arrangement, appearance and packaging. Identify critical inspection points so that sample approval becomes a practical reference for subsequent orders.
